Addressing the growing concerns surrounding data privacy and security with generative AI tools, Microsoft unveils Bing Chat Enterprise, a new AI-powered chat tool designed to offer businesses enhanced data protection. The new service, available in preview now, comes as a response to the restrictive policies adopted by several companies, such as Apple, Samsung, and major Wall Street banks, regarding the use of generative AI tools by their employees.
Unlike its predecessor, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which raises fears of unintentional data exposure and sharing of proprietary information, Bing Chat Enterprise prioritizes privacy and security for business users. Microsoft emphasizes that chat data is not saved, and user interactions do not contribute to training AI models. The company explicitly ensures that no eyes-on access is allowed, ensuring sensitive business data remains confidential and protected.
Offered as part of select Microsoft 365 plans at no additional cost, Bing Chat Enterprise maintains a similar user experience to Bing Chat. It provides accurate answers with citations and visual responses, including charts and images. Existing Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard, and Business Premium subscribers can access the service for free, while a standalone subscription will be available in the future for $5 per user per month.
While Bing Chat Enterprise aims to address privacy and security concerns, it is important to remain vigilant in verifying its results due to the potential for inaccuracies and hallucinations in generative AI. Nonetheless, Microsoft’s latest offering showcases a notable step towards safeguarding sensitive business data in the realm of AI-driven communication tools.
